Interpretation/Translation

The Immigration Justice Campaign is always in need of individuals who are fully fluent in English and a foreign language to assist our volunteer teams by providing interpretation or translation services. This volunteer opportunity can involve a wide variety of tasks, such as: providing written translation of documents for attorneys (no special certifications/licensure needed); providing interpretation assistance over the phone for attorneys working remotely by telephone or video-conference (Skype); or providing in-person interpretation assistance for attorneys who are physically in the detention center with the client. Phone calls for interpretation may be with the detainee and/or with other individuals (e.g., friends, family members). In-person interpretation at a detention center is usually for a pro bono attorney working with their client. Requirements

Volunteers must be fully fluent in either Spanish or another foreign language. We will also need one piece of supporting documentation for your application. If you are not a professional interpreter/translator, please provide a letter of reference. If you are a professional interpreter/translator, you may send your professional ID in lieu of a letter of recommendation. Please upload one of these documents as part of your application. You may also apply and send the documentation afterward.
