Raids Response Preparation Teams
The Trump administration has threatened large-scale interior enforcement actions meant to arrest, detain, and deport mothers, fathers, and children. The New York Times has reported that the raids are scheduled to begin on Sunday, July 14.
Details of this operation – including how these enforcement actions will play out – are still unclear, but the Immigration Justice Campaign has been preparing to act if and when these raids come to pass.
How to Help
It is almost certain that the government will try to rush families through to deportation as quickly as possible. Without access to their files, without a chance to talk to a lawyer, without due process. We need volunteers to join us in preparing for whatever may come.
We anticipate a need for volunteers who can immediately take on the following volunteer roles. Please apply below to be added to our contact list of people ready to act in the coming weeks. If the raids happen, you will be activated to support our pro bono work.
- Emergency Motions to Reopen
- Emergency Interpretation Assistance
- Emergency File Review & Contact with Your Local Immigration Court
- Emergency Psychological Evaluations
If you are unable to volunteer in the listed ways, but still want to support immigrants facing deportation, please consider taking action in one of these ways:
-
Donate to the Immigration Justice Campaign
Your contribution will help the Immigration Justice Campaign and the non-profit legal service providers with whom we partner organize volunteers to ensure families have access to legal aid.
Please note that unfortunately, we cannot accept donations of tangible items for detained individuals (such as backpacks, coloring books, or soap) because these will not be allowed into the detention centers.
