How Volunteering Works

IJC was founded in early 2017 to address the urgent need for pro bono legal representation for immigrants—specifically, by harnessing the energy and enthusiasm of attorneys with little or no experience in immigration law, and providing them with the training and mentorship they need to provide quality representation. That's still our model today.

Our volunteer attorneys have a wide range of experience. Some are fresh out of law school, some come from non-immigration legal backgrounds, and some have extensive experience in the types of immigration law we practice. If you're an attorney in good standing with a U.S. state bar, and are committed to our mission of providing pro bono representation for immigrants who would otherwise go unrepresented, we need you in the Immigration Justice Campaign.

We also need volunteer interpreters and translators. You don't need to have specialized knowledge of legal terminology to apply. People who speak languages in addition to English can sign up here.
